ABOUT MELISSA

Melissa Martin Julien is a globally trained floral designer, event producer, and founder of Proper Flower, Charlotte’s premier floral design studio. With over a decade of experience, Melissa honed her craft as a key member of the world-renowned Matthew Robbins Design team in New York City.

During her tenure, she designed and produced luxury events at private estates and exclusive venues around the globe—from Tokyo to Tulum, Provence to Cartagena—bringing exceptional floral artistry to every destination.

In 2015, Melissa returned to her hometown of Charlotte to launch Proper Flower, combining her refined aesthetic with a deep-rooted love for Southern hospitality and local collaboration. Her work spans weddings, interiors, editorial, and experiential events, and has been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, The Knot, Sweet Paul, and beyond.

Passionate about sustainability and community, Melissa continues to design with heart, intention, and a global perspective—transforming spaces and creating moments that leave a lasting impression.
